ITINERARY

Early morning pick up (4:30-45 a.m.) from your selected location in Cusco. We’ll leave the city and drive towards the community of Pacchanta (4,200 m / 13,779 ft), a traditional Andean village located at the base of the majestic Ausangate Mountain. Here, we’ll organize our gear and enjoy a delicious breakfast to get the energy we need for the hike.

The trail covers a total distance of 12 km / 8 miles, which takes about 5-6 hours round trip. Around 9:00 a.m., we’ll begin our hike on relatively flat terrain with gentle ascents. The main challenge is the altitude, as we’ll be walking above 4,500 m / 14,760 ft, reaching a maximum elevation of 4,800 m / 15,740 ft.

Along the way, we’ll discover a series of stunning turquoise, green, and blue lagoons at the very base of Nevado Ausangate — each with its own shape, color, and Quechua name passed down through generations. You’ll also have the chance to see alpacas and llamas grazing freely, as well as meet local villagers who create beautiful textiles from natural alpaca fiber.

We’ll return to Pacchanta around 2:00 p.m. to enjoy a well-deserved lunch and then relax in the natural hot springs, famous for their therapeutic properties that soothe tired muscles after the hike. Finally, we’ll board our transport back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:00 p.m.
