ITINERARY

DAY 1: CUSCO - PITUMARCA - QUESIUNO - PUKA PASS - ANANTAPATA - WARMISAYA PASS (MINASNIYUC PASS) - SURINEQOCHA
Pick up from selected location around 4:00 am and embark on a two-hour drive to Pitumarca, followed by another hour and a half to Quesiuno, the starting point of our exhilarating trek.

Upon arrival, our chef will prepare a nourishing breakfast, ensuring you’re energized for the day’s adventure. Meanwhile, our experienced guide will go over the itinerary and share essential safety tips for the journey ahead.

Our trek begins through a lush, green valley, with incredible views of the towering Ausangate Glacier, the highest peak in the Cusco region. Along the trail, you’ll pass by several rural Andean communities and see herds of alpacas and llamas grazing peacefully.

Continuing, we'll reach the first milestone, Puka Pass (4,870 m / 15,978 ft), where a truly breathtaking panorama awaits. Behold the crystal-clear waters of the Pukaqocha lagoon and the colossal Ausangate glacier before you, an awe-inspiring sight that is sure to leave a lasting impression. Witness the water's origin from the sacred glacier's snow, a spectacle that will awaken your senses and fill you with a profound energy. Don't forget to have your camera ready, as there will be numerous opportunities for capturing spectacular photos along the way.

After a brief rest, we'll venture downhill for an hour and a half, reaching Anantapata, our lunch stop. Once we've restored our energy, it's time for a two-hour ascent to the highest point of the day, Warmisaya Pass (4,985 m / 16,355 ft). From this vantage point, you'll catch your first glimpse of the legendary Rainbow Mountain, known as Vinicunca, with its striking colors and dreamlike beauty in the distance.

A 45-minute descent brings us to our campsite by the picturesque Surineqocha Lagoon. Once there, you’ll be welcomed with a "happy hour" of snacks and hot drinks, followed by a delicious dinner prepared by our chef.

Overnight stay: After dinner, settle into your tent for a peaceful night's rest, surrounded by the tranquility of the Andes.

DAY 2: SURINEQOCHA - MONTAÑA ARCO IRIS, VININCUNCA - VALLE ROJO - LLACTOC - CUSCO
Start your day with a wake-up call at 4:00 am, greeted by a steaming cup of coca leaf tea delivered right to your tent. This will give you an energy boost and warm you up for the chilly morning in the mountains. Afterward, enjoy a nourishing breakfast prepared by our talented chef.

Energized and ready, we begin our ascent toward the breathtaking Rainbow Mountain, a two-hour trek that will take you to an elevation of 5,100 meters (16,732 ft). Upon reaching the lookout point, you’ll have ample time to explore the vibrant Rainbow Mountain and take in 360-degree views of the surrounding landscapes, including the towering Ausangate Glacier and other snow-capped peaks. This serene moment will allow you to enjoy the scenery before the large crowds arrive.

After soaking in the beauty of Rainbow Mountain, we’ll continue our trek toward the Red Valley, located at 5,050 meters (16,568 ft). The valley’s unique red-hued terrain feels like another world and is rarely visited by tourists, giving you a sense of peaceful isolation. A short, 30-minute walk leads to a panoramic viewpoint where you can marvel at the astonishing beauty of the valley.

After our time in the Red Valley, we begin our two-hour descent. Along the way, we’ll pass through ancient Andean communities and encounter herds of llamas and, if you’re lucky, wild vicuñas. These majestic animals have been a part of Peru’s natural heritage since pre-Inca times.

We’ll enjoy a final lunch together before making our way to the trailhead. Here, our private transportation will be waiting to take you back to your accommodation in Cusco, concluding your journey by late afternoon.
